Last week was BABY WEEK! First, my newest "niece" was born on Tuesday. 8 lbs 5 oz, 21 in long and a head of black hair. So pretty and perfect! I cried when they brought her to the window at the hospital. She was just so tiny and sweet. Since then, I have watched both mom and dad change into different people. Okay so not really, different people... but they are different! Jennifer is such a good mommy already. She is a natural with Julie. She seems to already know everything to do. Julie hardly ever cries and both mom and baby have recovered from labor so quickly. And Josh went from loud and antsy (awaiting the baby) to calm and reserved when he is around Julie. It's almost as if he got more responsible looking overnight. At first when I thought, "Wow, our best friends are PARENTS!" it was weird - but now seeing them with Julie it seems normal!
The same day I also went to see our friends' 4 mo old twin girls for the first time. That was really neat. I got to give the younger one, Carleigh, a bottle and feed her. She was darling! So tiny (born at 4 lbs and now only around 7-8 lbs). I loved it. Twins would sure be hard work, but twice the fun too!
Then on Thursday Andy's college roomate had a baby as well. We went to see how Baby Kate and Lindsey (mom) were doing - another cutie! Her father is 1/8 Native American Indian, so she has very dark hair and dark skin. And again I just held her and rocked her and loved on her too.
So, what does all of this mean for me? All these babies really make me want to speed up time until our Baby Nichols is here!! I just can't wait. And I can't wait to see if we have a he or a she! I found tons of patterns to make diaper bags, diaper holders, grocery cart covers, boppy pillow covers, etc, etc, etc. I need ot get started soon! But, I guess I must be patient. 6 more weeks to go before I find out the sex. And another 26 weeks until I meet him/her. Um, and may I make a confession here? Lately along with my prayers for a healthy, full-term, smart baby I also throw in a "and Dear Lord, please can it be a girl?" ;)
The countdown is on for our little bundle of joy - 2.21.11

12th Week
A few things I've learned over the last week or so:
- bottles have different size nipples with different sized openings? (something about flow?)
- I officially have lost my waist
- maternity clothes are comfy
- if death comes in 3's, pregnancy comes in 7's or 8's
- when you're pregnant there are only a select few women that don't tell you WAY more than you ever wanted to know about labor, kids, babies, etc, etc, etc
- it's really easy to smile, nod and act like you are listening to the above people
- our little cupcake is about 3 inches!
- Mary, the baby gender-guessing fairy at the Dr's office said it's a girl!
